Be The CEO of Your LifeWhy Not?

You are mastering being a leader in your organization, and community, and yet you are struggling to establish balance in your home and family.  Maybe it is time to change the way you approach the other aspects of your life, and to establish yourself as the CEO of your life.

A successful and effective CEO understands the value of time, and remaining productive in order to ensure the success of her organization.

As my responsibilities continue to increase, I have found that creating a process for my life away from home allows me to remain on top of my game whether I am working with clients at work, or managing my home effectively.  As a wife, and mother, I have learned on several occasions that being disorganized at home, will affect my business whether I want it to or not.

Remember that your business is an extension of your life, if that life is chaotic, and disorganized, that chaos will find a way to slip into your work life.

A successful and effective CEO understands the value of time, and remaining productive in order to ensure the success of her organization.

Although I write this now, with ease, I understand how challenging getting there can be!

Delegation

We delegate at work, as a matter of fact it is a great benefit to us when we begin outsourcing tasks that do nothing but keep us occupied with things that do not help us to actually actively find and keep clients.

Although when we first begin considering outsourcing, the idea of spending money is difficult, those who take this step grow to realize the benefits outsourcing.  An investment in the business will only pay off in the end, as we learn to hand more mundane tasks to trustworthy employees or contractors.

Freeing up your time by outsourcing household tasks will allow you more time to do what matters most to you.  I personally prefer to spend my free time with my children or taking online courses, or planning new ideas for my business, the time that I gain is invaluable, because it allows me to direct my focus on something important, something that is hard to do when I am being pulled in a million directions.

One reason so few of us achieve what we truly want is that we never direct our focus; we never concentrate our power. Most people dabble their way through life, never deciding to master anything in particular. – Tony Robbins

Surround Yourself With a Great Team

The people that you choose to surround yourself with are important, have you ever heard the saying, you are only as good as the people you surround yourself with?

This one has been a tough one for me in the past, I was a people pleaser, obsessed with keeping everyone around me happy, even those that did not deserve a second of my time.  You cannot please everyone, and frankly the last thing you should do with the extra time that you may have on hand, is to waste your time on futile things.

“Surround yourself with good people, surround yourself with positivity and people who are going to challenge you to make you better. If you just kind of let yourself stay alone and be by yourself, the negative, it is just not going to help you. You can control two things, your work ethic and your attitude about anything.”  —Ali Kriege

I was once told, that a great leader, surrounds herself with an even better team…and I have a fabulous team, that I can honestly say that I am pretty proud of.  My team includes my husband, who is my best friend, and number one cheerleader.  He quickly reminds me of what I am capable of when I question myself, but is also ready to remind me when I am heading in a questionable direction.  Corey is always on hand to talk through my ideas with me, and with his vast experience in finance, he offers a world of knowledge that I never take for granted.

I have learned the value of working with like minded women, and although Darlene and I have been working together for a few weeks, our weekly, sometimes daily chats have offered a lot of insight.  Darlene was my first interview for our SheMeets Radio Show, and has offered up time freely to brainstorm, and I have been able to do the same, from sharing resources, to combining our knowledge in order to plan for the future, her friendship has truly been a gift.

Surprisingly, however, I am learning that my relationships with women who juggle as much, if not more than I do can help to create an unexpected balance.  I used to think that juggling a business and caring for 4 children was a challenge, until I met single moms, and women with up to 7 children who are juggling being a mom and business owner, like a #Boss!  Learning about their experiences, has helped me to create a better routine for myself, as a mom.

Building great, strategic partnerships with like minded women has been exciting for me, and allowing my family to play a greater role in my life has been nothing short of beneficial.

Take Care of Number One

Making time for you, allows you to take a step back and to reboot.  It is an important part of my routine, but taking time for yourself does not always have to be a large investment, but is as simple as creating a routine that allows you to remain mentally fit!

Refusing to make time for yourself will result in burnout, and while for others it is a slower process, it is inevitable if you refuse to make any time for yourself.  Lindsay Broder wrote a fabulous article on Entrepreneur, offering 5 reasons you SHOULD make more time for yourself!

Five awesome reasons to make time for yourself.

  • It clears and refreshes your mind
  • You can’t be good to anyone unless you’re good to yourself
  • You will be more creative
  • Being a control freak is not helpful
  • You keep in touch with what is truly important
