From Anne:

Company of Women is an organization that supports, connects and promotes women entrepreneurs, which I started back in 2003 because I was working at home and finding it very isolating.  I felt sure other women felt the same way. So I put an ad in the paper, booked a speaker and 165 women turned out, so I knew then that I was on to something.

After two years of running both my consulting business and Company of Women, I closed down my consulting practice.  Company of Women was way more fun and I knew I was making a difference.  Today we have over 300 members, from lawyers and accountants to fashion designers, and women in the skilled trades.  It is a diverse and rich group of inspirational women and I feel fortunate to work with them as they grow their businesses. We host around 80 events a year, both in person and virtually.

Over the years we’ve helped thousands of women get over their self doubt and forge ahead with their business ideas. Word of mouth has been our biggest source of referrals – women attend our events and then tell their friends.  I am active on social media – blogging, sharing information and creating awareness.

In many ways because I am a small business owner myself, I know my target audience because I am part of it.  This keeps me real and on top of what to offer.  In fact, I share my story in my book – Day by Day: Tales of Business, Life and Everything in Between.
