Describe your business in 3 sentences.
Tiffzippy is a custom & creative paper goods store. I create place cards, table numbers, gift tags, note cards, cupcake toppers, favor boxes and more. I have everything you need to add the finishing touch to your wedding, holiday dinner party, or gifts.
What inspired you to start your business?
As a designer, I was tired of spending money on scrapbooking embellishments and decided to make my own to use and sell. A customer asked me if I could make one of my designs into a wedding place card. From there I started designing paper good products for the wedding & party industry and I haven’t looked back. Once I entered the wedding industry I saw a demand for non-traditional wedding paper goods. People are looking for fun and whimsical paper goods for their wedding or party. They want to show their personalities through the finishing touches. I have started to expand my paper good lines to include gift tags and note cards.
How do you stand out from the crowd? What distinguishes your business from the competition?
My products are unique just like my customers. You won’t see other products out there like what I create for weddings or parties. My designs are simple, non- traditional, sometimes whimsical but always impactful. They add the finishing touches that people will always remember.
How do you develop product ideas?
A lot of my new product ideas come from my customers. I have the best creative customers! They will contact me with an idea for their wedding they can’t find anywhere else. From there those new ideas can become new product lines or spin into other new products. I come up with new ideas all the time, I just write them down on a sticky note until I have time to work on them. My desk is filled with sticky notes.
What advice would you give someone just starting out?
Just start, nothing is ever going to perfect. You can make improvements as you go once you see what works and what doesn’t. The internet is a big place and until you let people know you’re out there you can work on your site without a lot of traffic. Create a big online campaign when you’re ready. I wasn’t sure what to except when I first started but I never looked back once I did.
