Are the vultures circling your business?
The image you see here is not a vulture it’s you. Read on and I’ll explain.
A common occurrence here in Florida is to see the vultures circling an area. When this happens you know somewhere in the bushes something is going to be dinner.
Realistically I know it’s the way of nature but I have to say deep down I think about the poor bunnies. I have two that live in my front yard and I look forward to seeing them every day.
Vultures instinctively know that if these animals are helpless or hurt and they wait around they’ll have a meal. That’s when you see them circling the area.
At times in your business you may feel like the vultures are circling. Maybe you aren’t getting the clients you are looking for. Perhaps you aren’t bringing in the money you thought you would.
As you look around you see other people prospering while you seem to struggle.
You feel like the vultures are just waiting to eat up your share of the business.
How do you escape from being eaten?
You create a plan of action.
Instinctively you know if you don’t take the right direction the vultures will swoop in.
Perhaps part of your problem might be that you didn’t create a mission statement.
What is a mission statement? Your mission statement can be a few short sentences that conveys the purpose of your business. It’s why your business exists. These sentences could convey what your business is about including your position in the marketplace and more.
When you know why your business exists you will be able to take the proper steps.
Sitting down and writing a mission statement can give you clarity when it comes to your goals and objectives.
As you think about your objectives think about any gaps in your industry. Figure out how you can fill them.
You already know you aren’t the only one who’s filling these needs but that’s alright because you are going to do it in your own unique way. Using your unique voice.
Crafting your mission statement might be exactly what you need to not feel like that animal who’s cowering in the bushes. You might find this exercise in creating your mission statement opens your eyes to what you were missing. It could take your business in a whole new direction.
Take the time to answer these 7 questions.
- What are the needs of my target audience?
- How can I provide the solution?
- How can I improve on the quality of the actual product or service?
- Is there an exciting or unique spin I can put on it to deliver the product?
- Can I improve on customer service?
- Is there any area I can expand on to meet future needs?
- Can I reduce the cost of making my product?
If you ever feel like the vultures are circling your business remember that you are not alone.
Step out from the bushes (which could be your computer) and get out in the open. Make some noise. Let’s hear your voice!
Be a majestic bird ( that image is you) that’s perched for success. Ready to fly in the face of any challenge.
Remember, you need to be flexible so spread your wings. Be willing to try new things when the opportunity comes your way.
If networking isn’t your strong point get better at it no matter the cost.
That’s one way to let those vultures hear you roar!
Are you psyched now? I hope so
Your top priority right now should be to write out your action steps and mission statement.

Be Savvy and Successful!
I’m Toni Nelson. My first business was started almost 30 years ago out of a desire to be home more for my daughter. Since that time I’ve helped others start and grow their business. Seeking to empower women I wrote my first book: Sexy, Savvy and Successful! – A Woman’s Guide On How To Start A Business, Gain Financial Freedom and Buy More Shoes! I wanted to produce courses to help people gain or sharpen their skills so they could claim ownership of their business and say, “Yes! It’s MINE”!
My second book: The Secret Equation To Attracting More Clients – Marketing + P Factor + Video = $$$$ helps businesses find out what makes them different so they can stand out from the competition and attract more clients.
