When was the last time you attended a trade show? When you’re heading out for your industry show, you need to make sure that your company stands out and one of the best ways to do that is with a swag bag. Swag bags are going to help you to get your branded items into the office – and therefore – the gaze of your potential customers.
If you’ve ever been to a trade show, you know that people go to them because swag works to entice people in. There are some stalls that offer food and drink in branded packaging, but then there are others that offer a whole promotional gift bag. But, what should be in them? Let’s take a look!

- Branded pens. If you’re going to put a bag together for your customers or potential clients to take away with them, you need to have branded pens involved. It’s a trade show staple and it’s a good reason for it too because there’s never such a thing as having too many pens. If you imagine how many pens you’ve collected over the years and the ones that you still have, we can bet that you still lost most of them. Being able to hand out a pen as part of your swag bag is going to help your customers know who you are and want to call you.
- Mini calendars. Promotional calendars really do have great staying power. You get an entire year’s worth of brand awareness, and if you can make them fun or come up with funny quotes in them. When you do this, you’re going to find that people want to turn the page every day. That means that even if they’re not thinking about what your business is doing, the branding is still going to be in their mind.
- Preloaded USB sticks. It might seem like USB sticks are an expensive item to add in a swag bag, but if you preload it with digital copies of brochures or catalogs for your business, you’re going to be handing out tons of advertising without having to spend too much or worry about printing costs.
- A Branded Notepad. Branded notepads always have good appeal. They keep your brand front and center of customers when they’re meeting, writing a to-do list, or brainstorming. Even if someone’s just doodling on a notepad when they’re on the phone, they’re going to be thinking about your brand.
- Reusable water bottles. This one may be more of an expensive item to add to a swag bag, but reusable bottles are an eco-friendly alternative to a plastic one. Don’t forget to include things like this if you are looking to improve your sustainable image.
Along with these five items, you really need to chuck in the business cards, the brochures, and any other branded items you think would be relevant. You could even go as far as branding your swag bags themselves which would help to get your brand name out there.
