Do you invest in your email marketing or do you do it at all for that matter? A lot of companies don’t see email marketing as a priority, even though it can be very beneficial and help you grow – the ROI of a successful email marketing campaign can be extremely high.
Email marketing in simple terms is the use of email to communicate with your customers. A lot of companies will use weekly emails to keep in touch with their customer base, sharing their latest news, and any future things to be excited about as well as discount codes and sale items. Doing this, helps them retain customers, drive traffic to their website and improve their revenue – when running an email campaign, you should always verify the email addresses you are sending to, to make sure they are legit.
I don’t know who said it first but if you haven’t heard “the fortune is in the list” you haven’t been online researching how to grow your business. Not convinced you can find your customer’s ear by using email marketing? Check out these statistics:
- There are 4 billion daily email users. (HubSpot, 2023)
- 99% of email users check their email every day, some as much as 20 times a day.
- Consumers spend an average of 10 seconds reading brand emails. (Optinmonster, 2024)
- It’s often the first thing people do online; 58% of users check their email before they check out social media or the news. (Optinmonster, 2024)
- 50% of people buy from marketing emails at least once per month. (Salecycle, 2022)
Below we look into three of the main benefits of email marketing.
Drive traffic to your website
The more visitors you have on your website, browsing the different pages, the more likely you are to generate sales. You can drive traffic to your website through social media channels, online ads, organic search, and in this case email marketing. Through regular emails, you will encourage your customers to visit your site as they will be kept up-to-date with your latest news as well as recent offers.
Communicate with your customers
It’s important to always be in touch with your customers and to let them know of any news coming from your business – new product launches, product changes, or useful industry news. By communicating with your customers, you keep yourself at the forefront of their minds, which will increase the likelihood of them coming to you, when they require your services. A lot of companies will use social media to do this on their website, but alongside this, you can use your email marketing as you will be able to contact them directly through their emails.
Help you to retain customers
Email marketing is great for retaining your customers. By communicating with them through their emails, you are in direct touch with them on a regular occurrence, meaning you will always be on their radar. When they next require your services, there is a good chance they will come back to you, as they will remember you, instead of trying to find one of your competitors. Whether you run a physical business or an online business, communicating through email could be one of the most effective ways for you to stay in touch.
Increase revenue
From my research, email marketing is the most effective marketing with the best ROI on investment. In my opinion (based on research) no other form of marketing measures up, to a well-written email sent directly to your customer’s inbox.
According to email marketing expert Deb Coman, business owners who use email marketing to establish connections and nurture relationships get more sales. The goal is not just quantity but an engaged list. An engaged list beats social media marketing and even Facebook ads with significantly higher click-throughs. You also have the added benefit of owning your list where as Facebook and other social media platforms are “rented land” and you’re at the mercy of algorithm changes or even losing access to your account (true story).
And with statistics showing that email marketing generates $42 for every dollar spent, what are you waiting for exactly?
