Pinterest has a robust spam filter in place to maintain the quality of content on the platform. Unfortunately, this filter can sometimes be overzealous and falsely flag legitimate accounts as spammers. 

I’ve personally been banned twice by the Pinterest spam filter, despite strictly following their guidelines. It was a huge headache to restore my account, involving tons of emails to their support team (which, by the way, is notoriously slow and unhelpful).

To avoid triggering the spam filter, you should:

  • Avoid pinning the same article multiple times in the same board in a short time span: Once you’ve pinned an article in one of your boards, wait at least 2-3 days before pinning it again.
  • Vary your pin descriptions and titles: Don’t use the exact same text for multiple pins linking to the same article.

Remember, the Pinterest spam filter is not very intelligent, so even if you’re doing everything by the book, you may still get falsely flagged. 

If this happens, persistently reaching out to their support team is the only way to restore your account.
