Singer-Songwriter Stefanie Michaela – From Full-Time Mom to Full-Voice Artist

I’m Stefanie Michaela, a singer-songwriter based in Los Angeles, California. My sound blends pop and R&B, rooted in honest emotion and storytelling. After stepping away from music to raise a family, I realized something powerful—your passion never truly leaves you. It waits. And now, I’m stepping back into the spotlight with a renewed sense of purpose. This is my next chapter, and I’m giving it everything I’ve got—hoping to inspire others who may have put their dreams on hold. It’s never too late to turn the page and begin again.

Music didn’t just find me; it’s always been a part of who I am. I didn’t choose it; it’s something I’ve instinctively turned to my entire life for comfort, clarity, and joy. Through every season, good or bad, music was my refuge, my outlet, my way of coping with the world around me.

I spent most of my life, especially throughout my 20s, pursuing music with everything I had. But over time, I faced a lot of disillusionment, trust was broken, promises weren’t kept, and the business side of the industry left a bitter taste. It became hard to tell who was genuine and who wasn’t, and eventually, I pushed music aside, thinking maybe it was time to move on.

But the truth is, when something lives that deeply in your soul, you can’t just walk away from it. I tried to fill the void with other things, but nothing truly satisfied that part of me. Then, almost unexpectedly, I was asked to help a producer in LA with his music library, just some demo work, nothing major. But the moment I stepped back into the studio, something shifted. I remembered exactly what I’d been missing.

That experience lit a fire I thought had burned out. I realized music isn’t just something I do—it’s who I am. Now, I’m focused on rediscovering what music looks like for me in this next phase of life—real, honest, and on my own terms. It may not look the same as it once did, but it’s more meaningful than ever.

“Music is meant to be part of my life, and I believe I’m meant to share that gift—to connect, to heal, and to inspire.” – Stefanie Michaela

Can you start by introducing yourself and telling us in your own words about your inspiring story?

I’m a songwriter and soulful pop/R&B singer from Los Angeles, California, known for an emotional tone and a deep, honest vibe. My goal has always been to create music that feels real, authentic pieces that speak to the heart and hopefully inspire others along the way.

After years of pursuing music, life took me in a different direction. I stepped away from the industry to focus on building a beautiful family and following a path I hadn’t planned, putting music on the back burner. For a long time, I felt lost. I tried everything I could to ignore the ache of missing music, but when something is part of your soul, you can’t truly walk away from it.

Now, I’ve reunited with that passion, and I’ve never felt more fulfilled. I’m creating again—not just for myself, but with the love and support of the people who matter most to me. This is a new chapter, and it’s more meaningful than ever because it’s rooted in truth, resilience, and a love for music that never left.

I didn’t find music; music found me. It’s the reason I’m where I am today, fueled by a renewed sense of purpose and passion. After stepping away for a while and trying to fill the void with other outlets, I came to a simple but undeniable truth: nothing fulfills me the way music does.

Music is meant to be part of my life, and I believe I’m meant to share that gift—to connect, to heal, and to inspire. My journey has taught me that it’s never too late to chase what sets your soul on fire. There’s no expiration date on passion, and dreams don’t come with deadlines. If it’s in your heart, it’s worth fighting for.

What is a typical day like for you?

I’m a busy mom of five, juggling school drop-offs, pickups, and everything in between, plus four dogs and a household that’s nothing short of chaotic. But honestly, I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Once the kids are off to school, that’s my time to switch gears and dive into my music. It’s my window to focus, create, and pour into something that’s just for me. I aim to get as much done as I can during the day so that when the afternoon hits, I can fully step into “mom mode.”

Once they’re home, it’s game on, studying for tests, reading books, unpacking the drama of the day, and figuring out how to fix it all together. I’m here for whatever they need. It’s a full life, and a beautifully messy balance, but I’m grateful for every part of it.

If you had one piece of advice for someone just starting out, what would it be?

Don’t try to cut corners or look for the easy way to get where you want to go. It might feel like a shortcut in the moment, but nothing compares to the reward of putting in the real work and being patient with the process.

There will be setbacks. Disappointments are part of the journey. But you have to be ready for that, keep going, keep your head high, and above all, believe in yourself. That belief is what will carry you through the hard days. Trust in your passion, stay true to your path, and never give up. That’s the only way forward.

Does your company help the community where it is located?

The inspiration behind my journey is simple: I want the world to hear my music and feel something real. But more than that, I want to inspire others—especially women and mothers to know that their identity doesn’t disappear when they become a parent.

Motherhood doesn’t mean losing yourself. In fact, it can unlock a stronger, deeper version of who you’ve always been. I want my journey to show that it’s possible to chase your dreams, pursue your passion, and still be fully present for your family. You don’t have to choose one or the other; you just become more powerful when you embrace both.

How do you prioritize self-care and well-being while managing the demands of your business?

Taking care of yourself and your body is absolutely essential. Prioritize your health, get a good night’s sleep, stay active, and make sure to enjoy life’s little pleasures. Don’t restrict yourself from enjoying delicious chocolate or the moments that bring you joy.

It’s just as important to keep your mind and heart healthy. Surround yourself with people who lift you up, not those who bring you down. Positive energy fuels your growth and drives you forward—and that’s one of the most beautiful things in life.

What would you consider your biggest accomplishment and why?

For a long time, I was trying to be someone I thought I should be—chasing a version of myself that wasn’t truly me. But now, I’ve found the real me: the person I’ve always wanted to be.

I’m blessed to have my family, a few close friends, and an incredible support system that I couldn’t have asked for. That’s all anyone really needs to be authentic and surround themselves with a small, loving circle.

At this stage in my life, I’m grateful to have discovered the true Stefanie Michaela, and I absolutely love who she is.

We all face challenges. Looking back, what have been some of the biggest challenges and obstacles you’ve had to navigate?

Trust has always been a major challenge for me. It’s been so hard to truly believe what people say and to find authentic connections. I think that’s why I’ve been so guarded for so long, and every time I let my guard down, I end up getting hurt.

In the earlier stages of my music journey, I definitely trusted the wrong people. My parents were very involved, which makes it even more painful. While I try to see it as a learning experience, it’s still heartbreaking that we had to encounter people who completely took advantage of me and my family.

How do you set yourself apart from others in your industry?

I’m the real me, and my songs are real too. They’re stories from my life, unfiltered and true. I’ll never sugarcoat anything. Life is hard. Being married and raising kids is a constant balancing act. When one person’s happy, the other might not be. There’s always something that needs attention, always a fire to put out. It is what it is.

That’s why it’s so important to have something just for you, a safe space to turn to that helps calm your mind and soothe your soul. In those chaotic moments, having an outlet gives you peace and strength to keep going.

What are the three most important habits to be a successful high performer or leader?

Confidence, drive, and constant goals

Whats a podcast you can’t imagine your day without?

Mel Robbins is so real and authentic, she doesn’t sugarcoat anything, and that’s exactly how I am, too. If more people were like her and spoke openly about what we’re all really thinking, the world would be a better place.

People crave honesty. They want to hear the real stories, the struggles and challenges that everyone faces. They want to feel connected, knowing they’re not alone and that others go through similar things. We don’t want to scroll through perfect online lives and feel like we’re missing out; we want real, relatable experiences that show we’re all in this together.

Which female leader do you admire, and why?

Mel Robbins’ authenticity is something we should all strive for. If more people realized that we all go through similar struggles, maybe more of us would feel safe enough to let our guards down.

Do you have a favorite quote or motto that inspires you?

Silence is golden. I believe no one needs to know what’s going on in someone’s life unless that person chooses to share it with you. If you are that trusted person, it means you hold a special place in their heart. No one owes anyone else their personal information, it’s all about trust.
