A Q&A With Fitness Trainer, Author, and Entrepreneur Laine D’Souza

“Your health is the cornerstone of your freedom and legacy. Without it, everything else becomes secondary. The power to shape your destiny lies in your daily habits. Invest in your health, and you invest in your future.”

– Laine D’Souza

Lives Transformed, Spirits Uplifted, and Confidence Unleashed – Laine D’Souza.

For over two decades, Laine D’Souza has empowered thousands of women in the fitness industry. Laine has ignited a community of resilience and self-discovery, inspiring women to embrace their inner strength, both physically and mentally. Laine’s legacy extends beyond mere achievements; it’s measured in the lives transformed and spirits uplifted. Her story resonates with authenticity and perseverance, reminding us that true empowerment stems from within. In a world often clouded by superficial standards, Laine’s message rings clear: embrace your truest self, fueled by self-love, determination, and the courage to overcome any obstacle.

Born and raised in Hong Kong, Laine D’Souza is a bit of a global nomad. Growing up in the vibrant melting pot of Hong Kong and getting to travel to so many places when she was young was a gift that she took for granted but it made her feel like a child of the universe. With English and Indian Portuguese heritage, Laine has always straddled cultures, seeking her place in the world. School was tough—she’s dyslexic—but sports became her sanctuary, a refuge from the confusion of identity and the challenges of academia.

Training became her anchor and constant companion through the highs and lows of life. When sports didn’t lead to the Olympics or dance college as she’d dreamed, training remained steadfast—a reliable force shaping her physical and mental resilience. So, Laine packed her bags and headed to New York City, originally pursuing acting but finding one of her callings in personal training.

It was there, in the heart of the Big Apple, that she uncovered a profound truth: how women speak about their bodies mirrors how they speak to themselves. In a world steeped in false expectations and unattainable standards, she saw women holding themselves to impossible ideals. Laine realized that true health is a fusion of mind, body, and spirit — a holistic – WHOLE-listic journey requiring deep healing, mental fortitude, and unwavering self-acceptance that is built the more you achieve something you didn’t think was possible.

For Laine, greatness is confronting the challenge of overcoming self, and not being defined by external measures but by inner strength and resilience. Through vulnerability and personal growth, she’s learned that healing begins with self-acceptance and the courage to face ourselves unapologetically.

Laine’s journey isn’t just about fitness—it’s about empowering individuals to rewrite their narratives, to embrace their vulnerabilities, and to stand unapologetically in their own power. It’s about finding strength in the struggle, resilience in the face of adversity, beauty in the journey of self-discovery, and making yourself proud every single day.

We all face challenges, looking back, what have been some of the biggest challenges and pitfalls you’ve helped your clients navigate?

One of the greatest challenges I’ve faced is learning not to evade the discomfort of emotions I strive to avoid. It’s about standing firm in the face of adversity, even when it feels overwhelming and paralyzing, and knowing that the path to healing lies in confronting those emotions head-on. This journey of self-discovery and healing is intrinsic to building confidence and self-esteem. Many of us carry unaddressed traumas, easily triggered by situations that leave us feeling shamed and defeated. Yet, healing these wounds is essential for nurturing confidence and self-worth. It’s about acknowledging our past, forgiving ourselves fully, and finding gratitude for the lessons learned and the growth gained. While we may never wish to relive those experiences, we can appreciate the insights they’ve afforded us, propelling us forward to shape the lives and qualities we aspire to embody. In essence, embracing our past with gratitude enables us to rise above adversity and seize the opportunities to manifest our true selves. So many of us get caught up in the numbers using them for judgments, but we are not defined by numbers. They should be used only for measurement. The numbers teach us resilience and qualities such as endurance. By showing up every single day and committing to our health we build trust in ourselves and our word. I have seen first-hand that one of the antidotes to self-judgment is gratitude. We can always find one thing to fall to the knees of our hearts and be grateful for.

What are the most important habits to be a successful entrepreneur?

  • Effective Time Management: Set your week up to win by prioritizing tasks based on importance and urgency. Allocate time for essential activities like workouts and self-care using time-blocking techniques. Remember, it’s better to do a little consistently than to attempt everything in one day, emphasizing the compound effect.
  • Continuous Learning and Adaptation: Successful entrepreneurs recognize the importance of lifelong learning and adaptation. Stay informed about industry trends, emerging technologies, and market shifts. Remain open to feedback, continuously seek opportunities for improvement, and adapt strategies to navigate changing circumstances effectively.
  • Resilience and Perseverance: Entrepreneurship is inherently challenging, and filled with setbacks and obstacles. Cultivate a growth mindset, an unwavering sense of confidence, resilience, and perseverance to overcome adversity and stay committed to your goals. View failures as learning opportunities, remain adaptable in the face of challenges, and maintain a positive mindset founded in gratitude to fuel determination and drive.
  • Investing in Personal Growth and Learning: Prioritize personal growth by seeking out mentors, coaches, or peers who have achieved success in similar endeavors. Learn from their experiences, insights, and strategies to gain valuable knowledge and perspective. Embrace a growth mindset that fosters curiosity, adaptability, and a willingness to learn from both successes and failures. Surround yourself with individuals who have walked a similar path to accelerate your learning curve and navigate challenges more effectively.
  • Outsourcing and Strategic Positioning: Don’t be afraid to outsource tasks that fall outside your expertise or consume valuable time. Identify areas where your skills can be more effectively utilized and delegate tasks to individuals or services capable of handling them efficiently. By freeing up your time and energy, you can focus on high-impact activities that drive growth and innovation within your business. Additionally, strategically position yourself in environments or communities that offer opportunities for networking, collaboration, and skill development. Surround yourself with individuals who can inspire, challenge, and support your entrepreneurial journey, accelerating your business’s growth trajectory and maximizing your potential for success.
  • Confidence and Self-Belief: Confidence is foundational to entrepreneurial success. Believe in your abilities and the value you bring to the table, and know your worth, your experience, and your voice. Trust your instincts and decisions while remaining open to feedback and growth opportunities. Embrace challenges as opportunities for growth, knowing that your resilience and perseverance will carry you through. By cultivating confidence and self-belief, you empower yourself to take calculated risks, pursue ambitious goals, and navigate the complexities of entrepreneurship with grace and determination.

I have found by integrating these habits into your entrepreneurial endeavors, you can cultivate a foundation for long-term success, personal fulfillment, and continuous growth in both your business and personal life.

What business advice would you give your younger self?

If I could share business advice with my younger self, I would emphasize the following:

  • Embrace Trial and Error: Understand that in business, there are no failures, only lessons. Every mistake is an opportunity to learn and grow. Approach each challenge with resilience and an open mind, knowing that experimentation is key to finding what works best for you.
  • Find Your Own Path: Recognize that there is no one-size-fits-all approach to success. Discover a system that aligns with your unique brain and lifestyle. Whether it’s in business strategies, personal routines, or decision-making processes, create a path that resonates with your values and goals.
  • Believe in Yourself and Your Vision: Half the battle in entrepreneurship is having unwavering belief in yourself and the value of your product or service. Trust your instincts, stay committed to your vision, and don’t be afraid to share your message with the world. Confidence in yourself and your offerings will inspire others to believe in them too.

By embracing trial and error, finding your own path, and believing in yourself and your vision, you’ll navigate the entrepreneurial journey with courage, resilience, and clarity, ultimately realizing your full potential and achieving your business objectives.

What book do you think everyone on the team should read?

Be Your Future Self Now by Dr. Benjamin Hardy

If you had one piece of advice for someone just starting out, what would it be?

You have something the world needs. Figure out what it is and figure out how to relentlessly share it.

Every entrepreneur has a goal and problem they’re trying to solve. What was the inspiration that started your journey?

The inspiration that ignited my entrepreneurial journey stemmed from a deeply rooted belief in the transformative power of exercise as preventive medicine. I was driven to show people that physical activity and building muscle was not just about aesthetics or performance but was a profound gift for our overall health—boosting immunity, fortifying our gut, and nurturing our mental well-being. Through the discipline of regular exercise, people can discover their inner strength, proving to themselves that they can conquer challenges and take pride in their daily accomplishments.

My mission extended beyond the numbers on a scale; it was about empowering women to redefine their self-worth based on the muscles they cultivated by showing up over time—a testament to their resilience and self-love. Building muscle became more than just a physical endeavor; it became a safeguard against stress and a symbol of confidence, enabling individuals to trust themselves in times of adversity.

The real-life stories of resilience and survival, like a client pulling herself out of an elevator during the World Trade Center tragedy or a woman pushing metal off her in a car crash, highlighted the true essence of training—for life, mind, body, and spirit. But my journey didn’t stop there. My husband and I sold our CrossFit business and embarked on a new adventure, purchasing 150 acres of raw land, transforming it into pastures, and raising Wagyu cattle. The health benefits of Wagyu beef are unparalleled.

Our vision expanded to encompass a lifestyle of ranching, homesteading, and fitness, with the eventual goal of building mini guest houses and hosting retreats to educate people on self-sustainability and the spiritual connection to nature and food. We believe that knowledge is power in today’s information age, and through our journey, we aim to inspire others to build confidence and create the life they envision. It’s about choosing what you want and having the courage to pursue it with unwavering determination and belief in oneself.

Moreover, our journey is also about embracing the preventive medicine of our food and reclaiming our health from the grip of industrialized food systems. I believe that we hold the keys to our own health. By reconnecting with the land and understanding the importance of nourishing our bodies with wholesome, sustainable food, and having a spiritual connection to our food based in utter gratitude, we can unlock a path to vitality and well-being that transcends conventional notions of health and wellness.

What stage were you in your career when you came across this idea and decided to pursue it?

The inception of this journey wasn’t a conscious decision; it was a gentle nudge from the universe, a whisper in the wind that evolved into a resounding call to action over the span of two decades. Rooted in my passion for health, nutrition, and lifestyle, the seeds of this endeavor were sown long before I recognized them.

From childhood, when I declared my aspirations to be a “farmer’s wife” and being laughed at by my sister, to the bustling streets of New York City, where I sought refuge from the calling, there was always an unseen force guiding me back to my essence. It’s a profound understanding that our true path is intricately woven into the fabric of the universe—a celestial tapestry of destinies waiting to be unveiled. And here I am married to my rancher building our ranch as a first-generation rancher. Never say never!

I’ve come to realize that there’s a greater plan at play, one that transcends our limited perceptions and earthly desires. It’s about trusting the unseen forces, surrendering to the divine orchestration of our lives, something that has been predetermined, and allowing the universe to guide us along our unique path. Sometimes we may resist, we may stray, but the journey always leads us back to ourselves—to the core of our being, where our essence resides.

In the journey and lessons of life, the more we try to veer off course, the more healing we must undergo to realign with our true purpose. It’s a sacred journey of self-discovery, of listening to the whispers of our soul and following the cosmic breadcrumbs laid before us. And in embracing this wisdom, this mystical understanding, we find solace, clarity, and a profound sense of belonging to something greater than ourselves.

For me, there’s no other way I’d want to navigate this intricate tapestry of existence. It’s about embracing the unseen, learning to trust the process, and allowing the universe to unveil its divine plan in ways more magnificent than we could ever imagine.

What do you think is the single most important quality in an entrepreneur?

Success is created by being true to your visions and that is manifested by believing in yourself, which is cultivated by daily habits.

How do you prioritize self-care and well-being while managing the demands of your business?

Prioritizing self-care and well-being amidst the demands of running a business requires intentional planning and a commitment to nurturing both personal and professional responsibilities. I’ve found that establishing a structured routine helps me maintain balance and ensure that self-care remains a priority.

First and foremost, I carve out dedicated time for exercise and nature. By scheduling workouts at consistent times, I ensure that physical activity remains a non-negotiable part of my day. I often start my mornings with a run or power walk in nature, allowing me to center myself before diving into the day’s tasks.

To manage the demands of business, I maintain a weekly schedule outlining essential tasks and deadlines. Breaking down larger projects into smaller, manageable tasks helps prevent me from becoming overwhelmed and ensures steady progress over time—the compound effect in action. Even dedicating just 30 minutes a day to a task can yield significant results over time.

As a mother, building our ranch home and caretaking for animals while balancing business responsibilities can be challenging. However, I’ve learned the importance of simplifying and planning, in all areas especially when it comes to meals and family time. Planning dinners and navigating the family schedule ensures that we prioritize healthy choices and quality time together.

Date nights with my husband and dedicated moments of undivided attention, such as bedtime chats with my daughter, and four-wheeler rides or forest walks with my son are essential for maintaining strong family bonds amidst busy schedules. While family dinners at the table have been challenging during home construction, we cherish rituals like sharing gratitude – “Gratefuls” for the day’s blessings as we watch the sunset together or make wishes on amazing story nights.

In the midst of it all, I recognize the importance of self-reflection and connection. Taking time to unwind before bed, whether through reading or engaging in personal or business-related activities, allows me to decompress and reconnect with myself. Ultimately, nurturing relationships, maintaining healthy habits, and staying connected to what truly matters are the cornerstones of my approach to self-care and well-being in both personal and professional realms.

How do you boost your self-esteem in moments of doubt?

Boosting my self-esteem and confidence during moments of doubt is like finding my way back home to myself amidst life’s storms. When I’m feeling lost or unsure, I turn to the simple yet powerful practices that ground me and remind me of my inner strength.

For me, it starts with the rhythm of deep breathing, each inhale drawing in calm and each exhale releasing tension. The heat of my infrared sauna envelops me like a comforting embrace, melting away worries and allowing me to simply be. The heat reminds me of the heat of the tropics and my childhood. It relaxes and calms me and the sweat helps me feel purged. In moments of stillness, meditation becomes my sanctuary, a sacred space where I can connect with my inner wisdom, find clarity, and listen to the guiding voice, reminding me who I am and where I came from.

But it’s not just about finding stillness; it’s about movement too. There’s something profoundly transformative about the rhythm of my feet hitting the pavement on a run or the sweat dripping down my back during an intense workout. In those moments, I’m not just moving my body; I’m moving through my doubts, leaving them behind with each step and each drop of sweat, overcoming myself and remembering who I am.

Reflecting on my journey, I find strength in the challenges I’ve overcome and the triumphs I’ve celebrated. Each obstacle conquered is a testament to my resilience and a reminder that I am capable of weathering any storm. And when doubts creep in, I hold onto these memories like beacons of light, guiding me through the darkness.

At the core of it all lies a deep sense of worthiness and purpose. I believe in the goodness of my heart and the unique gifts I have to offer the world. Embracing this truth empowers me to step boldly into my authenticity, unapologetically owning who I am and what I stand for.

Bolstering my self-esteem and confidence is a journey—one that requires unwavering faith in myself and a commitment to self-care. By nurturing my body, mind, and spirit, I not only cultivate resilience within myself but also inspire others to do the same. In the end, it’s not just about finding confidence; it’s about embracing the beautiful journey of self-discovery and empowerment.

Choosing to believe in the knowing of who I am rather than the “no” I might receive is like honoring the legacy of my incredible grandmother, whose spirit I feel guiding me every step of the way. She crossed oceans and endured hardships so that I could stand tall and embrace my truth without fear. Her wisdom whispers in my ear, reminding me that I am meant for greatness and that playing small does a disservice to the journey she paved for me.

My parents, too, instilled in me the courage to speak up and the resilience to weather any storm. They raised me to embrace my voice and to stand firm in the face of negativity and doubt. Their unwavering support fuels my determination to push forward, even when the odds seem stacked against me.

In moments of uncertainty, I draw strength from the lessons of my ancestors and the love of those who have walked this path before me. Their voices echo in my heart, urging me to rise above the noise and trust in the power of my convictions. With their wisdom as my compass, I navigate the challenges of life with grace and resilience, knowing that I carry within me the strength of generations past.

So, I choose to believe in the knowing—the deep-seated intuition that whispers of possibility and potential. I choose to honor the sacrifices of those who came before me by daring to dream big and refusing to be silenced by doubt or fear. In their memory, I embrace the fullness of who I am and the limitless possibilities that lie ahead.

What would you consider your biggest accomplishment and why?

My journey has been a series of tests, trials, and triumphs that have shaped me into the person I am today. At 22, I took a leap of faith and journeyed alone to NYC, knowing no one but had a place to stay at a friend’s empty loft for a couple of weeks until I could get on my own two feet. This was a gift and helped me feel safe. This decision was completely naive, yet so brave, a decision that set the stage for my life’s adventures. In the city that never sleeps, amidst the mess and hustle, I found my footing, hustled to pay bills, and forged connections that would change my path forever.

Originally going to NYC to act and landing Ophelia with a Shakespearean traveling company was a testament to my courage and willingness to embrace the unknown. Even as I faced the challenges of an abusive relationship, I refused to let it define me, summoning the strength to break free and reclaim my voice. Each of the many hurdles I overcame were opportunities to rise stronger and more resilient than before.

The birth of my children brought both joy and adversity as they spent their early days in the NICU. In those moments, I discovered a courage I never knew I had, standing strong for them and finding solace in the depths of my own resilience. While healing from emergency C-sections their health was always the focus. These experiences, while daunting, were also transformative, teaching me the power of perseverance and the importance of believing in a divine power and in myself.

Through it all, I’ve learned that adversity is not the end of the road but a stepping stone to greater heights. Seeking new perspectives and embracing change became my mantra, allowing me to see the beauty in resilience and the strength in vulnerability. My journey, while marked by so many challenges, is also a testament to the human spirit’s capacity to endure and triumph.

Today, as I reflect on my path, I am filled with gratitude for the lessons learned and the strength gained. My story is a reminder that courage resides within each of us, waiting to be awakened by life’s challenges and that when we overcome, we can accept, embrace, and bask in so much gratitude.

What initiatives or actions do you believe are crucial for fostering a more supportive and inclusive business environment for women?

Fostering a supportive and inclusive business environment for women involves recognizing and appreciating the strengths of all employees. Here are some practical ideas and insights I believe have worked for us in the past.

  • Recognition of Diverse Strengths: Embrace the diverse talents and strengths that each employee brings to the table. Encourage team members to share their unique skills and perspectives, fostering a collaborative and inclusive work culture where everyone feels valued and respected. Create a safe space where collaboration is key and encourage that teamwork is dream work.
  • Investment in Development Opportunities: Provide opportunities for professional development and skill enhancement tailored to individual needs and interests. Support employees in pursuing training programs, certifications, and mentorship opportunities that align with their career aspirations and personal growth goals.
  • Promotion of Work-Life Balance: Prioritize employee well-being by promoting a healthy work-life balance. Encourage open communication about workload and stress levels and provide flexibility in work schedules and remote work options when feasible. Recognize and respect the diverse needs and commitments of employees outside of work, in order to allow each individual person to flourish.
  • Mentorship and Support Networks: Facilitate mentorship programs and support networks that connect employees with mentors and peers who can provide guidance, advice, and support. Encourage the exchange of knowledge and experiences across different levels and departments, fostering a sense of community, collaboration, and camaraderie.
  • Celebration of Achievements: Acknowledge and celebrate the achievements and contributions of all employees, regardless of gender or background. Recognize milestones, successes, and accomplishments in team meetings, company newsletters, or social media platforms to foster a culture of appreciation and recognition.
  • Feedback and Communication: Foster open and transparent communication channels where employees feel comfortable sharing feedback, ideas, and concerns. Encourage regular check-ins, round table meetings, and performance reviews to provide constructive feedback and support continuous growth and improvement so all can rise.
  • Leadership by Example: Lead by example, with integrity by demonstrating inclusive leadership practices and behaviors. Advocate for diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives within the organization, and champion policies and practices that promote fairness, respect, and equal opportunities for all employees.

By embracing the strengths and contributions of every employee, businesses can create an environment where everyone feels valued, respected, and empowered to succeed. It’s about building a culture of appreciation

Which female leader do you admire, and why?

My grandmother was the backbone of my family, steering us through life’s ups and downs with unwavering strength and practical wisdom. With five rambunctious boys and one girl to manage, she ran her household like a well-oiled machine, making tough decisions and keeping the kids in line with a mix of love and discipline.

After my Grandfather passed away when I was just a baby, she took the reins without hesitation, becoming not just a mother but a father figure to all her children. She wasn’t one for grand gestures or flowery speeches; instead, she led by example, showing us the importance of hard work, perseverance, and looking out for one another.

Life with five boys under one roof was never dull, but she handled it all with grace and humor. She wasn’t afraid to lay down the law when needed, but she also knew when to let us be kids, encouraging our adventures and mischief within reason.

Her leadership wasn’t about giving orders; it was about being present, listening, and making tough choices for the greater good of our family. Whether it was managing our finances, planning the future, or simply deciding what to cook for dinner, she approached every task with practicality and purpose.

But amidst the chaos of everyday life, she never lost sight of what truly mattered: family, faith, and love. She taught us the value of hard work, the importance of treating others with kindness and respect, and the power of laughter to ease life’s burdens. She was so brave, wise, and kind.

Her legacy lives on in the way I approach challenges, the way I cherish my loved ones, and the way I strive to be better every day. My Grandma wasn’t perfect, but she was real, and her strength and wisdom continue to inspire me, with a feeling she is always with me guiding me and smiling over me.

How do you set your business apart from others in your industry?

In my businesses, setting ourselves apart involves key elements: our unwavering commitment to exceptional quality, preparation, and experience.

In the ranching world and e-commerce selling direct to consumers with select cuts of Wagyu involves our distinctive approach to care and vision. Firstly, when it comes to Wagyu, I am adamant about selecting only the finest quality beef. We raise our Wagyu with love knowing everything about them and raising them to have superior marbling and flavor, ensuring that our product stands out for its unparalleled taste and texture. This dedication to excellence sets us apart from others in the industry who may compromise on quality for the sake of convenience or cost.

My journey from city to country and back again has endowed me with a unique perspective, bridging the best of both worlds. In the bustling city, I rubbed shoulders with some of the brightest minds in the fitness industry, soaking up knowledge and inspiration. Transitioning to the ranching world, I found myself surrounded by seasoned experts, each with their own wealth of wisdom and experience, building things from ground zero gives us a different humbling approach.

Yet, it isn’t just about having talent; it is about cultivating the talent for honing one’s craft and understanding the intricacies of the business. I quickly realized that in this dynamic landscape of business, no one is coming to save you, and no one is going to market for you, sell for you and give you the key. It’s about taking ownership of your craft and your brand, understanding that people choose your product or service, not just for its quality, but for the way you show up and for the values you uphold, the lifestyle you sell.

In the realm of training and coaching, people are drawn to you because you inspire them to believe in themselves. It’s about more than just physical fitness; it’s about instilling a sense of empowerment and self-belief in those you work with. By sharing a personal journey and passion, I  create an environment where individuals feel inspired to push beyond their limits and achieve their goals, and therefore accomplish results they didn’t believe they could. Being a great coach is seeing their potential and believing in them when they cannot do that for themselves yet.

In essence, my journey has taught me that success is not just about talent or knowledge; it’s about embracing the journey, learning from every experience, and embodying the values that set you apart. It’s about being authentic, passionate, and committed to making a positive impact on those around you.

Furthermore, my emphasis on natural and ethical ranching practices is a cornerstone of my business philosophy. I prioritize the well-being and natural lifestyle of our cattle, aligning with customers who value sustainability and animal welfare. By adhering to holistic ranching methods, I not only produce superior beef but also contribute to a more sustainable food system.

In the realm of training and coaching, my approach is equally distinctive. I believe in recognizing and nurturing the potential in each individual I work with. By holding space for them to explore their capabilities and guiding them through daily practices that foster growth and self-discovery, I empower them to surpass their perceived limitations.

My unwavering belief in their abilities inspires trust and instills a sense of accountability and commitment to personal development. Through this approach, we create a transformative environment where individuals can thrive and become the best versions of themselves.

In essence, our business stands out for its unwavering commitment to quality, sustainability, and empowerment. By prioritizing excellence and the potential of those we work with, we have created a distinctive brand that resonates with customers and clients seeking authenticity, quality, and personal growth.

Can you share any specific examples of how you have successfully built and maintained strategic partnerships or collaborations?

One specific example of a successful collaboration for me occurred during my involvement in a mastermind group. In this group, I had the opportunity to meet a young woman who was passionate about revolutionizing education through micro-schools for homeschooling. She resonated with our ranch’s values and vision.

We saw the potential for collaboration and decided to create a unique program: a Ranch Day Homeschool Program held on Mondays. This program combined the best of both worlds, offering children the chance to immerse themselves in nature, learn about ranching and farm animals, and build meaningful relationships. It was a win-win situation where we could share our expertise in ranching while providing a valuable educational experience for homeschooling families.

This collaboration opened my eyes to the endless possibilities that exist when we’re willing to think outside the box and work together. It taught me that our imagination for collaborations is only limited by our willingness to see beyond our own limitations and fears, that collaboration is better than a competition mindset in this aspect. By embracing each other’s strengths and expanding our horizons, we can create innovative partnerships that benefit everyone.

Do you have a favorite quote or motto that inspires you?

“Each of us is a uniquely crafted child of the universe, and as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give others permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”

– Nelson Mandela

About my Book Confidence Unleashed – How do you define confidence? What does it look like?

For me, Confidence is like a blend of inner knowing and outer action.

It’s about tapping into that gut feeling that has your back and reminds you of something bigger than yourself. It’s that small, quiet, sometimes barely audible mystical voice. Whispering that you’re meant for more, for something greater. It’s about embracing your roots, remembering your past by acknowledging the resilience passed down through your ancestors and consciously creating who you want to be by realizing that you’re here to shine, not shrink.

Confidence is cultivated. It is learning to trust yourself when you are challenged, when you are faced with the daily trials and life-changing traumas of fear, doubt, loss, failure, and negativity, and training yourself to step out of your comfort zone, by overcoming yourself.

When we do hard things that we didn’t think we could do, we rise. How we speak to ourselves and how we think about ourselves was shaped by our upbringing, our experiences, and how we speak to ourselves during those times. Cognitive thoughts can be trained just like a bicep. When we see how we speak to ourselves and then consciously create a different way, we can start to build that sense of self.  Each time we step beyond what we thought was possible, we create that evidence that we can trust ourselves and no one can take that from us. Confidence is not just about believing in yourself; it’s about proving to yourself that you can do hard things through action.

Confidence isn’t some abstract concept; it’s as real as the ground beneath your feet. It’s about consistently trusting yourself, your instincts, and your ability to adapt and grow. It’s about facing adversity with courage and determination, knowing that every obstacle is an opportunity to learn evolve, and shine.

Confidence is not just about reckless fearlessness: it is about facing your challenges, fears, and doubts and overcoming them. It’s about acknowledging where you have come from, owning your mistakes, and your failures, and learning from them in order to be able to celebrate your small wins and life victories.  Every time we overcome ourselves, we are manifesting that inner fire that is uniquely ours.
