Elina Filice – Entrepreneur and founder of Drop Rocket, Changing the Game for Independent Music Releases

Drop Rocket is an LGBTQ+ and female-founded, innovative new tool for independent artists that helps them manage their new music releases. Created by musician and digital marketer Elina Filice, It’s an all-in-one release system that empowers artists through powerful project management software. Dozens of artists around the world are using Drop Rocket to ditch the stress of releasing music and launch their best releases yet.

Tell us a little about yourself and how you got to where you are today.

Hi, I’m Elina! I’m a singer-songwriter, project manager, and music marketer. I’ve been working in creative marketing, creative business development, and different areas of the music industry for the past few years.

What made you decide to found Drop Rocket?

While living in Dublin, I was working with and surrounded by amazing musicians. The music was great, but the way it was being released and marketed wasn’t. I started developing a release strategy, and a few years later, decided to turn it into Drop Rocket so artists could use the release strategy in an interactive way.

What is Drop Rocket and who is it for?

Drop Rocket helps independent artists release new music in easy-to-use project management software. They can customize industry-standard templates, plan a content strategy in the built-in content planner, and collaborate with teammates. Drop Rocket is interactive, totally customizable, and allows you track your progress through every release. It provides a proven process to follow every time, so that every release gets better, growing an artist’s business and fan base.

Artists at any point in their careers can benefit from the structure and clarity that Drop Rocket provides. That includes new artists learning the ropes, established artists who want to streamline their release process, as well as labels and managers balancing several releases at once.

What is your mission with Drop Rocket?

Our mission is to empower independent artists with education, resources, and community to help them build sustainable creative businesses.

Our goal is to encourage artists to change their mindsets from ‘starving artist’ to ‘creative entrepreneur’.

Can you share some of the most important lessons you’ve learned from your successes and failures in business?

The most important lesson I’ve had to learn is to just keep going! The entrepreneur life is full of pitfalls and challenges, disappointments and rejection, and hours upon hours of work without knowing where it’s going to lead. The important thing is to just stay in the ring and keep pushing. Though it sounds simple, it can actually be the hardest part of the game for me personally.

How do you boost your self-esteem in moments of doubt?

In moments of doubt, I remind myself of the artists we’ve helped. Dozens of artists are using Drop Rocket, and benefiting from everything it was intended to do. I remind myself that even if I help a few artists, that’s enough. Taking away people’s stress and instead making creating and releasing music easy and fun, if I can provide that for even a few people, then it’s all worth it!

What advice would you give to a new business owner?

I would tell a new business owner to trust their vision. We live in such a distracting world, keeping your vision front and center, holding on to your purpose, and remembering your mission, these things are more important than ever!

What initiatives or actions do you believe are crucial for fostering a more supportive and inclusive business environment for women?

Encouraging women to pursue entrepreneurship, providing support and funding for female-fronted businesses, and centering the truth that women make great leaders and founders! The world needs our creativity and leadership.

I also hope to spread the message to other women that your business can be whatever you want it to be. It doesn’t have to be someone else’s imagination of a business, it can reflect your truth, your creativity, and your purpose.

How do you set your business apart from others in your industry?

I would say something that sets us apart is we have a real focus on supporting the artists in the Drop Rocket community. We support their new releases however we can, through our blog, playlists, and socials.

Another thing that sets us apart is a focus on empowering artists to stay independent, through giving them resources, tools, and guidance to build sustainable music businesses.
