They say we only use 3% of our brains capacity, I say most of us only use 2% of our creativity. Here are some tried and true ways to get those creative juices flowing again :
Get outside
To put things simply, we spend too much time inside. We need the great outdoors to set our creative thinking free. Just watching a robin hopping to her own beat can infuse us with the humility needed to march to our own beat too.
Unplug
Technology is a wonderful thing. Just unplug more often so that it doesn’t end up doing all of your thinking for you.
Chop a salad
Our minds are so busy, busy, busy. It’s no wonder we don’t time to think. Take time to chop a salad, not while you listen to a cd, not while you talk on the phone and not while you mentally plan tomorrow’s carpool. Chop the salad and less your mind wander.
Keep your eyes and ears open
Not even sure how to express your creativity ? The world will give you the clues that you need. Next time you see something that illicits a response from you such as ‘ I could do that’. Then by al means do.
Use that early morning creativity buzz
Before the world is awake to distract you, leverage the time to think outside of the box. Early in the morning is a wonderful time, even if you are a night owl consider giving yourself the gift of one early morning thinking session a week.
Keep on tweaking
Creativity often needs time to percolate. Don’t feel the pressure to rush. You wont be able to create an app or sonnet of your dreams in one sitting.
The world needs your creative response. Now go chop a salad.

I have tried them all. That is how I was inspired to write my book to be, Sailing to Ithaca!
