Earn Money From a Blog

6 Ways To Earn Money From a Blog

If you have a website or blog you really should be maximising its earning potential. There are many ways to make money from your online content and here are 10 of the best ways…

How To Monetise A Blog

1 – Ads

Most website owners in the last two decades started off with Google Adsense on their websites, as they have no traffic requirements so you can start monetizing your content early on.

But thankfully times have changed and there are some really good alternatives out there, I personally use Ezoic ads and recommend them to anyone looking to make serious money. I have also heard very good things about Mediavine, but they are notoriously hard to get accepted to.

Ezoic not only offers a guaranteed 250% more revenue than AdSense, but it offers free WordPress hosting (which is especially good for those not wanting to spend out on their blogs) plus an amazing free site speed facility called leap that speeds up your site and passes all googles core web vitals.

2 – Guest Posts

Once you have built up a reputation in your niche, news outlets and large-scale websites often look for expert writers for content and quotes.

There are many ways to find opportunities, such as checking Twitter hashtags like #contributors wanted or googling the same term.

There are also 100s of articles on Google, detailing 100s of sites that offer guest posting

TIP: Never pay to post

3 – Brand Ambassador

If you can get a brand to agree to let you be their ambassador, you can make some serious money from it. They will send you products to promote, pay for blog posts, and also for social media content.

Tip: It’s useful to put together a well-written template post to send out to as many brands as possible, but remember to only ask brand you think would be a great fit, and tell them why!

4 – Sponsored Blog Posts

If your blog is relevant to the brand, they may ask you to insert a link into an old post for a fee, or even to write a whole post for them and host it on your blog.

What you charge depends on your DA (you can find this at moz.com) but the higher your DA the more you will get and the more offers you will receive.

Just remember to not overfill your blog or website with overly promotional or spammy content as it might de-rank you in Google.

5 – Social Media Posts

If you have a large following on any social platform you can get paid to promote products. You will need a good amount of followers before any brands would be interested and you can charge more the bigger your following.

Some of the more popular social accounts for brand posting include…

  • Instagram
  • Facebook
  • Twitter
  • Snapchat
  • TikTok
  • Pinterest

6 – Selling Products

You can sell digital or physical products from your blog to earn revenue. Things like digital planners and budgeting envelopes sell very well, can be easily created on sites like etsy.com, and have no postage and packaging requirements.

You can literally make money while you sleep with digital products!

7 – Affiliate Marketing

Take the stress out of selling physical products and earn revenue from the everyday things you naturally talk about and/or recommend in your blog posts.

With affiliate marketing, there are loads of companies to choose from such as Awin, Webgains, Impact Radius, and TradeDoubler. But if you’re just starting out and are looking for a really easy, all-in-one automated solution, I would recommend Skimlinks.

Skimlinks has a handy WordPress plugin that automatically turns any qualifying product links you have on your website into affiliate links. This means if your users click through the link and make a purchase, you will earn a commission.
