No More Fearing That Deadline! by @sobeorganized

by Rivka Caroline

There is nothing like the panic fuelling that last minute panic to make us all feel like a total failure.

Whether it is taxes,  a paper due in 12 hours or forms due in 4 hours. Here are my tried and true tips for turning all that anxiety on it’s head.

1. Understand the Psychology
‘It’s so easy when i want to, it’s so hard when I have to’
That’s all the psychology you need to know. Once you are fighting the last minute panic your productivity goes out the door as you spend 98% of your time beating yourself up for not having done those taxes / forms / work earlier.

2. Back it up
So having learnt from your last experience with last minute deadline, go ahead and back up your deadline and make your own deadline a month or at least two weeks prior. It is so much easier when you are ahead of yourself. You will be feeling so proud that you will work at the speed of lightning ( or at the very least not lose all that precious time beating yourself up).

3. Break it Down
Those scary forms / deadlines can look really scary. Break them down into smaller steps and their scariness disappears.

4. Bask in Your Glory
Next time you work ahead of a deadline go ahead and bask in your fabulousness. You beat the clock, after all there is no last minute panic if you aren’t working last minute.
