6 Mindset Shifts That Lead to Better Cash Flow

What happens when you walk into a dark room? You can’t see anything right? And our instinct is to fumble around and find the light switch so we can see clearly. Well, that’s what it’s like when you try to grow you’re the impact and income of your small business with a money mindset issue.

You can’t see the opportunities that are right there.

Our mindset has a huge impact on the level of success that we can achieve. When you have the right mindset, you make choices that generate a much higher caliber outcome. When you elevate your mindset, it’s like your mind “graduates” to a new playing field of infinite possibility.

But when you have a limited mindset or have old wounds that color your beliefs, you’ll struggle or bottom out prematurely.

In my experience working with entrepreneurs to help them monetize their ideas more effectively, I see how often mindset is the only reasons they are stuck, not be able to afford what they need to grow, or experience cash flow issues that strangle growth.

When you upgrade your mindset you also upgrade your resourcefulness – it’s like your mind starts to access new possibilities and support that you never knew was possible.

Here are Six Mindset Shifts that can open up new doors quickly for any entrepreneur:

1. Redirect Your Focus

It’s super easy to get caught up in problems and issues – especially when cash flow is problematic. One of the fastest ways to change your prosperity quickly is to focus more of your time and energy on what is working.

In 2010 when the financial world turned upside down my business tanked too. I was scared and panicked about how to meet payroll so my mind started to play tricks on me and I was convinced that my business would not survive.

One simple habit that turned my financials around quickly was to make a list every day of what was working. By tuning into gratitude, my energy improved which allowed me to think more clearly (instead of desperately spinning in circles.)

Sometimes you’ll have to dig deep and just focus on the fact that the sun came out and tomorrow is a new day. But when you train your mind to focus on what’s working you’ll start to remember all of the things that you have in your life already.

2. Train Yourself to Invest

Your mindset around business expenses has a HUGE impact on every growth opportunity – from marketing to hiring help to getting the mentoring you really need. Most entrepreneurs look at business expenses as a COST. Yes this money is leaving your bank account.

When you adapt a Thriving Money Mindset you will see the right opportunities as an investment in your future success. By shifting your mindset to an investment mentality you will elevate every dollar’s value (and you’ll be a lot more discerning too!)

3. Upgrade Your Money Story

One of the biggest adjustments in mindset is what you tell yourself about your capability to manage and make decisions with money. When you tell yourself and others that you aren’t good with money or avoid dealing with money management activities, you are in creating a program called “limit my money since I can’t manage it well.”

It’s time to create a new money story such as: “I am an excellent steward of money in my life.” It might take some time for your new story to become your reality but you must shift your mindset around this one in order to create higher levels of success.

4. Evolve Your Role Identity

As an entrepreneur, you may have a misguided mindset about your real role in your small business. Often the owner gets caught in the trap of being a worker instead of developing their strengths as the CEO (Chief Entrepreneurial Officer).

By elevating your mindset about the role you really need to play you will also activate a powerful worthiness principle – you deserve to be paid well as a CEO! When you elevate your role and condition yourself to think, act and lead your business as a CEO, you also make much better decisions for the overall health of your business.

5. Expand Your Wealth Consciousness

Sometimes the simplest way to create a mindset shift around money is to put yourself in an experience of opulence. Do an activity that makes you feel wealthy. Put yourself in a situation that allows your internal prosperity thermometer to feel expanded. When my money mindset has felt low I would head to the nearest Ritz Carlton and have lunch (or tea) and just soak in the energy of prosperity.

Whether you hit the beach early on a Friday or window shop a fancy boutique or even indulge in something a little more extravagant than you normally would, immersing yourself in wealth is a fast way to elevate your money mindset.

6. Be 110% Responsible

Now this mindset shift might not always be about money but it’s an essential shift to achieve higher levels of success. When breakdowns and failures occur (and they will) you must own 110% responsibility. You will be tempted to blame someone else but that’s just activating a victim mentality.

Victims have things done to them. If you want to elevate your money mindset then you must take responsibility – and learn from every situation that occurs, bad or good. When we truly own our results in life we can then cultivate the most powerful money mindset possible. If you have the power to make a mistake then you have just as much power to be successful.

Every entrepreneur I know who makes it big has to learn how to think differently in order to conquer their business’s ups and downs. Make a commitment to uncover and upgrade your mental “sticky areas” and you’ll find that growing your business gets a lot easier.
