There had to be another way.

As a coach and speaker, Mira helps business professionals gain Impact and Influence by shifting how they communicate and present themselves.

She Owns It recently had the opportunity to interview Mira and find out more about her story and her entrepreneurial journey. Read on to find out more.

What stage were you in your career when you came across this idea and decided to pursue it? Have you always been an entrepreneur?

After some introspection and realization, I pondered over the concept of entrepreneurship and made the decision to go with it at a pivotal point in my professional life. Taking the leap, I bid farewell to the corporate world and entered the realm of entrepreneurship with a clear vision and a strong sense of resolve. With this choice, I changed the direction of my career significantly from working for renowned establishments to starting and running my own business.

I became aware of a critical need in the professional world during this reflective time: Many people had trouble with interpersonal and effective communication, regardless of their field or status. Although these abilities were necessary for success, they were frequently underutilized or undeveloped, thence began my entrepreneurial journey, sparked by this realization.

I found my true calling as an entrepreneur focused on communication coaching. This transition from a corporate professional to an entrepreneur dedicated to empowering individuals and professionals through impact communication has been a fulfilling journey thus far and motivates me to plan miles ahead.

What was your first entrepreneurial venture?

This is my first entrepreneurial venture which started by offering tête-à-tête coaching sessions and later expanded to include workshops, training programs, and online courses to reach a broader audience. Today, we ensure our offerings are globally accessible via online platforms and the incorporation of digital tools. The intent is to have a significant impact in the field of communication training by staying innovative and individualized while also keeping in line with the changing needs of the professional community.

Every entrepreneur has a goal and a problem that they’re trying to solve. What was the inspiration that started your journey?

My entrepreneurial journey began with the desire to use impact and effective communication to help professionals and individuals realize their full potential. I realized that while many people struggle with communication skills, they are essential for success in both their personal and professional lives. My goal was to close that gap and provide others with the tools they needed to communicate effectively and with confidence.

My desire to use effective communication to have a significant impact on people’s lives was the driving force behind my decision to become an entrepreneur. My military upbringing has taught me the value of social presence and etiquette. While working in the healthcare sector, with some of the biggest names, I came to the realization that there was more I could accomplish with my potential, something that could truly fulfill me.

The observations I made while working as an etiquette and grooming trainer were what really motivated me to create different training programs. I noticed a gap in the way people were taught to conduct themselves as if being kind and well-groomed were just a coat to wear in an executive setting. This made me realize that “telling” wasn’t “training,” and I started looking for ways to assist people in becoming aware of themselves. It wasn’t just a business decision for me; I wanted to help people present themselves more powerfully both personally and professionally.

My mission is still driven by that inspiration, and I’m appreciative of the chance to improve so many people’s lives through my initiatives.

What business advice would you give your younger self?

I would advise my younger self to take cognizance of one’s talents and overcome anxieties related to making first impressions; hold fast to your principles and the constructive influence you wish to bring about. Simultaneously, devotedly pursue education and seek guidance, this holds the secret to realizing your greatest potential.

Becoming an entrepreneur is a wonderful way to combine resilience and self-discovery. Brave failures remember that every obstacle presents a chance for growth and learning, embrace a community that is encouraging, where you can freely discuss your goals and disappointments, and finally, have faith in yourself & the vision for your business.

Let your guiding light re-iterate that success is about making a difference in other people’s lives, not just about making money!

What’s the best book on entrepreneurship that you’ve ever read?

Numerous excellent books exist on entrepreneurship, each with its own special insights and knowledge, but if I had to pick one, “The Lean Startup” by Eric Ries would be my choice.

The book is an ideal platter for young entrepreneurs ready to venture or improve their company’s agility and adaptability in this fast-paced world. A particularly practical insight is that of creating a company by methodically testing hypotheses and modifying your strategy in response to feedback from the real world. It highlights how crucial it is to experiment quickly, learn from mistakes, and develop a long-term business plan.

The Minimum Viable Product (MVP) idea, which encourages entrepreneurs to create a scaled-down version of their product or service to test their ideas with actual customers is one of the book’s main lessons. By doing this, risk is reduced and it becomes easier to calculate the supply that the market will actually demand or buy.

What book do you think everyone on your team should read?

“Drive: The Surprising Truth About What Motivates Us” by Daniel H. Pink

To run an effective team, it is imperative to better understand the motivation of employees as well as co-workers. The author makes a strong case for the ineffectiveness of traditional reward and punishment systems, particularly in today’s knowledge-based and creative work environments.

People are frequently driven by a desire for autonomy in their work, the chance to master their skills, and a sense of purpose beyond simply making a living. This is done by looking at the world through the lenses of autonomy, mastery, and purpose. Improvement in job satisfaction and productivity can be achieved by better aligning tasks at hand and goals with true motivations by grasping these principles. This book has the potential to improve both individual and team dynamics.

If you had one piece of advice for someone just starting out, what would it be?

“Embrace the Journey and Keep Learning.”

Success is an adventure with constant highs and lows. Remain observant and receptive. Seek out fresh insights, abilities, and encounters. Invest in yourself via self-study, mentorship, or formal education.

It is critical to be flexible and, hence, persist and adapt. Develop deep connections with supporters, peers, and mentors. Be in the company of people who share your vision and who are able to provide support and direction when required.

Your passion will help you stay committed and focused even in the face of difficulties. With the correct attitude, a dedication to learning, and persistence, you will be better equipped to accept the journey and maintain your curiosity while developing dynamically.

What do you think is the single most important quality in an entrepreneur?

Resilience is arguably the most crucial attribute of all – the capacity to adjust to new situations, learning from mistakes, and enduring hardships. I believe resilience is essentially the cornerstone around which other entrepreneurial attributes like inventiveness, flexibility, and tenacity are constructed.

Entrepreneurship comes with a bag of obstacles, failures, and uncertainty. It’s almost a given that every endeavor may not succeed, and mistakes do occur. Any business environment is ever-evolving, and one needs to possess the ability to adapt to those technologies, shifting consumer preferences, and dynamic market trends.
