From Vision to Reality – Maryam Ehsan’s Inspiring Journey of Founding Market Pro

Market Pro is a digital marketing agency, based in Lahore, Pakistan, founded by Maryum Ehsan, a confident and trailblazing woman entrepreneur with a vision and a heart of dedication. Maryum’s journey into the world of business began with humble beginnings and a relentless drive to succeed.

With a passion for digital marketing, she founded her own company, overcoming challenges and obstacles along the way.

In your words, can you share your inspiring story? We’d love to hear more about how you got to where you are today. 

Hi, This is  Maryam Ehsan, CEO and Founder of Market Pro, a premier digital marketing agency in Lahore, Pakistan. My academics are in Business and Administration from GCU, Pakistan. I delved into the digital marketing industry during my graduation, and it became my interest amidst the myriad of options. I took the first step in my professional career as a content writer and unlocked many new chapters of digital marketing. Eventually, I was promoted to Team Lead Content Marketing in Programmers Force, the company where I first started working as a content writer, in 2019. 

I discovered new things related to digital marketing, developed new skills, unlocked new approaches, and learned team & client management during my job at PF. After about 2 years of working in the same company, when I became proficient in digital marketing, I noticed a potential and spark inside me to start my own digital marketing agency that would help businesses enhance their online presence through lead-oriented strategies. Ultimately, in 2021, I founded Market Pro, a revolutionary approach toward providing result-driven marketing strategies to clients. 

What made you decide to go into business for yourself? 

I can say my passion and interest did. I have been eager to be a businesswoman and entrepreneur since my childhood. Ultimately, starting a career in digital marketing built an interest in me, and I decided to go with it. However, all this wasn’t just an instant idea out of the blue. I knew that to survive in the market, I first needed to learn the skills and become an expert in digital marketing because you cannot run a business unless you know the field yourself. 

I learned PPC, SEO, content, and social media marketing, as well as team and client management skills. After extensive learning, I applied that knowledge to build strategies for my own business, Market Pro, one of Pakistan’s fastest-growing hybrid digital marketing agencies. 

Every entrepreneur has a goal and a problem that they’re trying to solve. What was the inspiration that started your journey?

As a founder of a digital marketing company, my journey started out with witnessing the increasing reliance on digital platforms. I identified a critical gap in effective online visibility and brand engagement for businesses. The inspiration stemmed from the desire to help companies harness the power of digital media to connect with their target audiences, optimize their online presence, and ultimately drive business growth.

How do you use social media in your business?

As an entrepreneur running a digital marketing agency, leveraging social media is integral to my business strategy. Social media serves as a powerful tool for brand promotion, client engagement, and staying abreast of industry trends. I utilize platforms like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, and others to showcase the agency’s expertise, share relevant industry insights, and engage with both existing and potential clients. 

What social media is best for business growth and why?

It’s challenging to definitively select the single best social media platform for business growth, as the most effective choice depends on the specific nature of the business, target audience, and marketing goals. However, if forced to choose one platform with broad applicability, Facebook often stands out, as it is best for a diverse range of businesses, both B2C and B2B. 

Facebook has an extensive user base, offering a wide demographic reach. Its advertising platform allows businesses to target specific audiences based on various parameters. Additionally, the platform supports various content formats, making it versatile for different types of businesses. The combination of organic content, paid advertising, and robust analytics tools makes Facebook a comprehensive choice for business growth.

Can you share some of the most important lessons you’ve learned from your successes and failures in business? 

As an entrepreneur, I’ve learned that success often stems from maintaining a relentless focus on understanding and meeting customer needs. Customer satisfaction is the cornerstone of a thriving business. Successes have also emphasized the critical role of building a cohesive and talented team, as collective efforts and shared values propel the business forward. On the flip side, failures have underscored the importance of adaptability and effective risk management. Missteps have taught me to carefully assess market feedback, pivot when necessary, and balance ambition with realism. Additionally, I’ve come to appreciate that resilience in the face of setbacks, coupled with a commitment to continuous learning, is indispensable on the entrepreneurial journey. 

What are the three most important habits to be a successful entrepreneur?

Here are a few habits that are essential to becoming a successful entrepreneur:

Time Management: It is a key to becoming a successful entrepreneur. A successful entrepreneur knows how to manage time, e.g., meetings, sessions, free time, and all the other office work efficiently. 

Goal-Oriented Mindset: Entrepreneurs are goal-oriented. They know what they want to accomplish and set a goal and roadmap to work on that objective until it is achieved. 

Keep Promises: Successful businesses are built on trust. If entrepreneurs can’t keep their promises, no client or investor will trust them. Additionally, if a CEO makes a promise to their employees, it’s essential to keep it. Breaking promises could lead to losing the trust of the employees and investors, which can eventually affect the business’s performance. 

What advice would you give to a new business owner? 

I would advise new business owners to stay focused and follow their enthusiasm. Fresh entrepreneurs must start a business for which they have a passion, which keeps them determined and focused even in tough times. Similarly, they should note that failure is a part of the business’s success, and the thing that matters is not how many failures you encounter but how you overcome those challenges.

What do you think about the values of the employees in any company?

Employees are the backbone of any company. I have always tried to develop a valued, supportive, collaborative work culture and foster a healthy work culture. Happy and satisfied employees are the base of any company. Market Pro offers them all the perks that a people-centric company should offer. The journey to entrepreneurship is full of challenges, hurdles, and setbacks. Resilience is what makes an entrepreneur face all the difficulties and stay strong.

What precautions do you want to share with other entrepreneurs in the same field, and how did you overcome those issues?

Using outdated tools is the most significant cause of failure for a digital marketing agency. Technology is advancing at a fast pace in this age. Businesses must understand that the best way to stay in the game is by using up-to-date and new tools. They should keep an eye on the trends and modern technology to work with better efficiency and faster speeds.

Now, you’re a successful entrepreneur and CEO. What is the one mistake that you regret during your professional journey? 

One regret I’ve in my life is that I should’ve started early. For a long time, I kept thinking that I was not ready and should spend more time learning and understanding the industry. It was my fear. Leaving a full-time job to start a venture from scratch is always a scary idea. However, I overcame that thought and took the step, thankfully.  

How do you leverage technology and innovation (like AI) to stay ahead in the rapidly evolving business landscape? 

We utilize artificial intelligence and machine learning for research and development purposes. One of them is AI-powered CRM, that can analyze historical data to forecast what users might do next. Using that prediction, we offer personalized marketing content for users based on their interests to our clients, providing better conversion rates and more leads.

Is there a businessperson you admire most?

I admire my father and follow him for business ethics. He was the one who motivated me to pursue entrepreneurship and supported me in the early days. Apart from that, I admire my mentor, Mr. Khurram Akhtar, the CEO of Programmers Force, where I used to work early. Mr. Akhtar is a true example of leadership. He always motivated me and encouraged me to go after my dreams.

Do you have a favorite quote or motto that inspires you?

These are some quotes from renowned successful people:

“Success is a lousy teacher. It seduces smart people into thinking they can’t lose” – Bill Gates

This quote highlights that sometimes success can become an element of overconfidence. When things go well, entrepreneurs might get too comfy and confident. That comfort zone sounds cozy but can block the road to more growth for their business.

“One of the only ways to get out of a tight box is to invent your way out.” – Jeff Bezos

Jeff puts the life rule in one line: comfort zone is inversely proportional to success. Taking risks and putting in the hard work is the way to get out of the financial and life struggles.

What can you tell our readers about what’s next for yourself and your company?

In the future, we plan to expand our operations in multiple countries and increase our workforce, hire more talent, and invest more in the well-being and training of the employees. We’ve run 1,000+ successful marketing campaigns and worked with multiple clients worldwide, and I foresee further development in our operations. 

What book do you think everyone on the team should read?

A solid grip on your financial life is the first element for a good life, e.g., money-saving skills, the difference between assets and liabilities, and the importance of having emergency funds. It also implies that becoming a good entrepreneur as a business is all about how you handle the funds, profit, and expenses. “Rich Dad Poor Dad” educates the reader regarding the importance of financial education and focuses on the importance of financial literacy and the essentials of an entrepreneurial mindset with practical examples. I would suggest all people must read this book at least once in a lifetime.
