Here Is To The Simple Life

by Pavlina Toren

How often do you find yourself feeling overwhelmed? Sometimes, I always feel like I have so many things going on. Family, my social life, my daily responsibilities, goals, blogging, it’s very easy to start feeling like there aren’t enough hours in the day to do it all.

I considered myself a pretty organized person, although sometimes if you were to come over unexpectedly you would think otherwise. We all have those times that we let things get out of hand and disorganized. Sometimes I feel like I just have too much stuff and its difficult to stay organized.

We are all guilty of over complicating our lives, although not necessarily on purpose. Whether it is in our jobs, our home, or even our relationship the things that complicate our lives can lead to disorganization and chaos. Today I am sharing some tips on how to simplify your life.

Simple Life

CLEAN AS YOU GO

Growing up I heard this over and over. Wash your dishes right after you use them, don’t let the dishes pile up. Put your clothes away when you get changed. Make your bed right first thing in the morning. All these might seem like simple easy things and can take only a few minutes, but if you do these things “as you go” you will notice that you won’t have to spend a lot of time constantly cleaning.

RE-EVALUATE YOUR RELATIONSHIPS

Have you ever heard of the saying “You are who you surround yourself with.” Don’t waste your time on people who aren’t good for you. Your time is precious, make sure to spend it with people you care about, people who make you feel good about yourself and are a positive influence on you.

UNSUBSCRIBE

I have a tendency to do a lot of online shopping. My inbox is always full of offers and inundates my inbox. I end up spending so much time checking these out when I should be answering important emails. Take the time to unsubscribe to the offers from these site, that way you can go check out there offers when you actually have time to shop. The same thing goes for junk mail, if you unsubscribe you will find your inbox clean and easy to go through so you can get to all the important stuff.

DE-CLUTTER

To many things around you can make you feel drained and overwhelmed and take your focus off the important things in your life. No better time to purge and get rid of old things like clothes, dishes, magazines, furniture you no longer need.

WRITE DOWN YOUR GOALS

I am pretty big on goals, but I tend to stick to smaller goals like daily and weekly. This works best for me but you may need long-term goals to keep you on track.

Write them down go through them and pick the ones you feel are most important to you. Don’t write 2 pages of goals, keep it simple and focus what’s most important. By reducing the number of your goals you will have more focus and you’ll be more likely to succeed.

CREATE A MORNING ROUTINE

This is so important. I use to rush out the door in the morning and usually forget something or felt like I forgot something all day. Give yourself a little more time in the morning, even if its 10 minutes to sit down and drink your coffee and write down your to do list for the day. Give it a try, this can actual be life changing.

SAY NO

Don’t feel obligated to say “yes” to things you don’t feel like doing. Don’t feel the need to explain yourself- if you don’t want to do it, just say no.

CLEAN UP YOUR DIGITAL MESS

Decluttering your digital space is also. We are always on our phones and if your phone is cluttered with apps you no longer use get rid of them. Take some time to go though your computer and clean up your desktop, put files in appropriate places. We live in a digital world and we cannot forget to clean up this part of our lives as well.

We live in times, where we’re constantly connected, someone is constantly needing something from us, and it is very easy to get overwhelmed. Keep it simple and enjoy every day to its fullest.
